this goes with that: officer jacket meets quirky vintage blouse…

what is not to love about a classic officer jacket? adding a dash of vintage to the mix makes it pretty much perfection…at least in my book…in this post of this goes with that…i’ve paired the two together…so here is the story of how we all met…

i had the amazing opportunity to finally visit italy in september of last year…while i was excited to see amazing castles and the spectacular duomo in milan…shopping was on my list of things to do…especially vintage shopping…

what surprised me on this trip…was how much vintage i would actually find…don’t get me wrong…i can find vintage…it’s finding vintage that fits me…most of it is tiny!

to give you an idea of my surprise…here is a pic of some of my beautiful vintage finds…

i came across this beauty in one of the vintage shops that i stopped in…it first caught my eye because of the stripes…but as i inspected it closely…i loved how quirky it was…it makes no sense…yet makes perfect sense…i mean the front…has stripes…and a little hat over flowers…and then magically a little striped hand appears…huh? but it goes together…

the back of the vintage blouse…continues with the stripes and flowers…but adds in a pair of check glasses…again…it makes no sense…yet makes perfect sense…

i just had to get it…

on that same trip i came across a fabulous officer jacket in black…which i fell in love with as well…it would have been perfect had it been vintage…but alas…i was shopping in a regular retail store…what can i say…i like the variety…

living in california…i knew it would take a while before i could wear it…being 100% wool…with our weather…but…finally in mid january…there was enough of a chill in the air…that i could pull out this beauty as well…

as i contemplated what to wear with it…i thought of my quirky vintage blouse…it was unexpected…yet went together…which is what i look for in my outfits…the stripes in the collar would just stand out enough against the structure of the officer jacket…the gold in the flowers would make the gold buttons in the jacket pop that much more…

there was enough going on with the outfit that accessories needed to remain minimal…so i opted for my gold hoop necklace…which by the way has been another staple go to in my wardrobe…it was listed in my nordstrom anniversary favorites from 2016…and still going strong…

i opted for a slight wide leg pant…a little flow and feminine touch was needed for the outfit…and just when i thought the quirky blouse would be enough to show my personal style…i had to add my fabulous black patent leather loafers…i mean the stripes just add another fun dimension to the outfit…don’t you think?

writing this post just makes me realize my search for officer jackets is not over…while i currently have an olive green one…and now this black one…i need…yes i said need…a red one and a navy blue one…and if everything aligns…they would be vintage…because that is where my heart is…

so tell me…do you own an officer jacket in your wardrobe? how about a fun quirky item? do share in the comments…

thanks for stopping by…

till next time…stay stylish!

  1. Love the officer jacket and shirt. From top to toe the outfit looks fabulous. You made me smile. The outfit brought back memories of The Angeles and Sergeant Pepper ?
