green green green…

in honor of st. patty’s day…or perhaps…just because…i love the color green…so much in fact…that when i am shopping with my best friend & sister-in-law…when i pick up an item…(something i don’t seem to notice…but she points out…)and i say…”isn’t this cute?” and her response…probably 8 out of 10 times is “oh look…it’s green…” so…i guess i am safe in declaring…that green is a dominant color in my wardrobe…

it is a happy color for me…and as a neutral…yes…another neutral…it really does go with just about anything…so…where do i draw my inspiration for color combinations? everywhere! i spot these luscious combinations in pictures…in nature…in movies…in fabric prints…

notice the spotting of yellow & blue? perfect combinations…

green & coral…although this pic does not show emerald green…in the movie “bonjour tristesse“, elsa wears an emerald green dress with a coral sash when she dances the merengue through the streets of saint-tropez…simply stunning…

my favorite combination of all…when i wear yellow & green together…i can’t help but smile…such happy colors…

a fireworks display shows the beauty of green with black & pink or purple…

green & turquoise…always a good match…

nothing says crisp & clean like green & white…

a different hue of green with yellow & peach…

so…where do you draw your inspiration from?

  1. I’m a HUGE fan of green. I always gravitate towards it. I agree, it’s a great color that goes with everything and such a lively, fresh color. My closet is divided into two main sections, my black clothes and my green ones. It works with so many other contrast colors too.

  2. jennifer – so so true…it is a fun neutral to work with…
    stacy – fresh indeed!
    gwensews…and kermit is SO adorable…
    happy st patty’s day ladies!

  3. I used to wear a fair amount of green. Then one day, while visiting a friend in Manhattan, she took me to a colorist who “did my colors” and announced that I was/am an “iridescent summer.” She also told me that natural blondes (that’s me) should never wear green (I can’t recall why). So I stopped.

Now I’m jealous, especially because it’s St. Patrick’s Day. (You could say that I’m green with envy!) 🙂

  4. hi kay –
i am not a colorist…however…two things i would suggest…depending on how long ago you got your colors done…i would recommend doing it again…as we get older…our skin color and hair color changes…therefore changing the color scheme…also…there are so many shades of green…if it is a color that you love…mention that…and hopefully the colorist can help find a shade that would be appropiate for you…
