i was reading an interesting article last week in business insider…about peter thiel…a venture capitalist…“peter thiel says he never invests in a ceo who wears a suit“…the article went on to say that “thanks to startup culture, the “kid in the hoodie” is becoming the gold standard for startup leadership, especially when searching for funding…”
really? now i believe that while many companies don’t call for suits anymore…there is a vast difference between a suit…and a hoodie…wouldn’t you say?
i mean what does it really boil down to? living here among the silicon valley “hoodie” wearers…while yes…the vast majority of companies have gone casual…way beyond business casual…there is something to say about someone looking like they just rolled out of bed…and kept wearing what they wore to bed…vs someone who actually takes a little time to put themselves together…
while these pics that i’ve chosen are almost TOO dressy for the silicon valley…i think we need to change that perception…first impressions…respect for oneself…a way to express your own individuality…these are all just simple reasons to step your wardrobe up a notch…
a nice pair of jeans…tie optional…still a casual look…but put together..
a whole different feel just by wearing a fun pair of sneakers…notice they are not gym shoes…
a blazer will always add a nice finishing touch to a casual outfit…
want your personality to show? add some fun color…
another simple look…but it looks thought out…wouldn’t you say?
what are your thoughts on the in between a suit & hoodie? i don’t know about you…but i think these options are fun…casual…and show a unique side of each individual…
