what does the floor of your closet look like? while casual flats, sandals, and flip-flops are often our go-to shoes for home activities or easy weekend activities…they can sometimes end up in a crazy chaos in our closets…the thing is…this category of shoes isn’t usually stored in boxes…nor are they kept stretched with the aid of shoetrees…these grab-and-go shoes have a tendency to get separated when tossed on the floor of our closet…
so what can you do?
the key is to find a system that works for you…whether you store them high up on shelves…or low on the floor…you want some form of storage to be used…so that when you go and grab…that is what you are doing…grabbing…and going…not searching endlessly for the “mate” lost somewhere in a sea of shoes…
one simple solution is to designate a wicker or fabric basket for the sole purpose of keeping your shoe mates together…these open baskets can sit on the floor of your closet…just don’t overstuff them or you’ll be spending too much time fishing around in the basket…it’s better to have two or three baskets next to each other and assign specific shoe styles to each…and the result? no more lost shoes!
i found this next solution interesting…while i personally wouldn’t have my shoes hanging…because i need that space for my clothing…it might work for some of you…again…the solution is to “see” your shoes…and not spend time searching for them…
if you have room on your closet door…i thought this was clever and a great space saver…again…the key is to not overstuff the bins…as you are trying to make it “easy” to find your shoes…and having all your shoes fall out…because you are trying to pull out one pair…defeats the whole purpose of storage…
love this idea…if you are not utilizing your closet shelves…this is a great way to store those casual flats and flip flops…keeps them separated…and easy to find…
and if you want them hidden…but accessible…this storage idea is genius! and what is better then a multi-purpose unit? grab your shoes…sit down for a moment…and it also adds some great interest to your room…
