while mixing patterns is not for everyone…for those that love it…there are those that have mastered the art…while others that would like to dabble in it…but don’t know where to start…
one of the easiest ways…is to start with a black & white palette…so with that color combination…you are only looking at texture & size of the prints…
you can go subtle…such as this example…where the focus is on the shoes…however there is a small print in the jacket…
this jacket & top are both in black & white…however the jacket is most dominant in white…not a lot of pattern play…while the top has the focus on the print…
if you are a little more adventurous…start layering in your black & whites…as in this example…a striped black & white skirt…topped with a floral black & white design in the cardigan…it is anchored by the solid top…if you really pull apart the pieces…you will see that on their own…they are all very simple pieces…but together…make quite a statement…
and for the bold ones…go all out…big bold stripes…this would have been fun with a polka dot print thrown in as well…the outfit works because the dress is the dominant bold stripe…while the jacket almost looks neutral against the big bold stripes…
