i was very excited to hear that the vintage expo in san francisco was happening on a weekend that i could actually attend…i have to say…it has been several years since i was able to be at one…
so did i have a list? yes & no…i mean there are always things i am looking for when shopping vintage…for example…a 50’s jacket is always top on my list…i have been collecting them for years…and love the versatility of them…i can pair them over a dress or just as easily wear them with my jeans…my only prerequisite? no black…and a color or print that i do not own…
but the thing with vintage…you really need to keep an open mind…vintage is obviously not in the department stores…so my attitude has always been…when you find something that you like…and it fits…you grab it…there is no thinking it might be around in a few months…for less…and for the same reason…when shopping vintage…i am open to any season…so i might buy a fabulous “summer” piece in the middle of winter…it is all about nabbing that piece when you find it…
there were so many fabulous people dressed in vintage…i was so admiring the outfits…i seriously do not know how i forgot to take pics…but…i did…which would have been a fabulous blog post all on its own…the creativity to me is so wonderful to see…how others take their vintage pieces and make it their own…
so…to get to my treasures…no coat was found on this vintage shopping trip…but i did leave with two fabulous items…both of which i am over the moon excited about…
first up…this fabulous handbag…while i have many vintage handbags…and love each and every one of them…i do not…did not have one in a fabulous pony hair animal print…i absolutely cannot wait to rotate this in with my outfits…it will be used a lot! believe me…
i also found this precious necklace…for those that know me well…i am obsessed with anything that has tassels…almost to the point that i have had to put a stop to it…i mean…how many tassel necklaces does one need?
this one caught my eye for two reasons…well three…if you count the fact that one of them is that it is a tassel…but i loved the fact that i could adjust the neclace…
and hello…it is green! my favorite color…and i will be honest…i have NO green tassel necklaces…
treasures for me are more than the items found at the vintage expo…it is also meeting some wonderful people…that you just connect with for one reason or another…two of the vendors were local and i had such a wonderful conversation with them…there is something about sharing your love of vintage…and meeting those that really work at preserving the beauty in them…
the first was a mother/daughter team…and they actually have a huge space in santa rosa, california…and yes, i will be visiting them sometime soon…if you are in the area…do look them up…they had a great collection…and…they are SO nice… hot couture vintage and be sure to follow them on instagram hotcouturevtg
the second was chick-aboom vintage…marissa was an absolute dear…and while she commented on loving my tory burch bag…she then said…”oh we have that in common” and pointed to her fabulous BIG tory burch bag…that she of course found while thrifting…i mean…thrifting and vintage in common? how can you not love this woman? be sure to follow her as well on instagram chickaboomvintage
have you added some new vintage to your wardrobe? do share in the comments below!
