we as women…so many times…put ourselves on the back burner when it comes to taking care of ourselves…we think of ourselves…after the kids…the spouse…the job…and everything else…but the only way you can be the best “you” is by taking some time out for yourself…it is essential not only for yourself…but for giving the best of yourself to others…
the best description of this that i have found…and tell my clients over and over…is the example of the airline dialog that happens…when the flight attendant is telling us about the emergency exits…and the flotation devices…what is the one thing we are told about the oxygen masks? “put your oxygen mask on first before helping others”…why? well…because without our own oxygen…we can’t really help others…
the same applies to us…in our busy lives…we need to take the time for ourselves…before we are truly able to help others…
so how do we do that? it starts with taking some time out for yourself…getting in some exercise…alone time…eating right…but also…it is taking care of the inner dialogue that so many of us women play in our heads…over and over…realizing who we are…the beauty in all of us…and taking care of ourselves…and being the beautiful authentic woman you are…
and this goes into our wardrobe as well…our clothing speaks volumes of who we are…and what we think of ourselves…so let’s get going for this year…and really work on the best version of ourselves…
here are some first steps…
when it comes to your personal style…here are some to try…for this year…the new you!
get out of the habit of criticizing your body when trying on clothes that don’t flatter your body type
get into the habit of discovering clothes that naturally flatter your body type
get out of the habit of buying random pieces and feeling bad because you never wear them
get into the habit of shopping with a purpose and a list
get out of the habit of throwing on the same old thing day after day
get into the habit of taking time to create “new” outfits from your wardrobe and use more of what you already own
get out of the habit of adding new items to an already stuffed closet
get into the habit of having a well-edited closet by eliminating clothes before adding new ones
get out of the habit of trying to dress younger than you are
get into the habit of showcasing your personal best assets and looking great at any age
get out of the habit of running out the door without your makeup on
get into the habit of scheduling enough time to put your best face forward
get out of the habit of being envious of what others are wearing
get into the habit of studying well-dressed women and trying new styling techniques
get out of the habit of putting on clothes that you “sort-of” like
get into the habit of enjoying how you feel in clothes and accessories
get out of the habit of feeling stuck
get into the habit of giving me a call to help you get unstuck (or a stylist in your area…)
