the expired wardrobe…

what comes to mind when you think of the 80’s? for me…it was all about the shoulder pad…so i had quite the chuckle when i saw this article in the huffington post today titled “oprah’s fashion confession is just so 80’s…” click on the link to read it…and be sure to watch the video…pretty hilarious…

while we can laugh about the shoulder pads…and how HUGE they truly were in the 80’s…the expired wardrobe still exists in many many closets…so whether it is a style from the 80’s…90’s…or 70’s…the expired wardrobe will date you…and not in a good way…

i’ve had clients that were returning to the workplace after many many years of not working…whether it was because of time off for raising children…or marriage…whatever the reason…going back to work…means updating the wardrobe…wearing what worked 20 to 30 years ago…will do one thing…and one thing only…date you!  and who wants that?

truth be told…it doesn’t even have to be that long a time frame…when people have neglected themselves for a year or two or more…it shows!  personal style will always require updating to avoid getting lost in a decade…what you wear offers clues about you…if all your clues point to 1995…the subliminal message you’re sending is that you are  out of date with yourself…and possibly business life and other relationships…

it can seem like it would take a lot of time, effort and money to update your style and present yourself in the most flattering way…but it truly is not difficult to update the wardrobe…and if it turns out that it is…hiring a professional stylist may be just the thing you need…money well spent to get people looking at the real you…not your expired wardrobe…
