1 red, white and blue jacket worn 3 different ways…

when you get a new item…do you figure out a way to wear it…and them wear it that way to death…or do you think of different ways to wear it…creating new outfits over and over?

if you are a girlfriend of mine…or a client of mine…you have most likely heard me say once or twice…or maybe more…how every item you purchase…should be able to be worn at least 3 different ways…now while most don’t think it could be done…i show them how it can be done…

but…if you are not my client…and i haven’t been in your closet…you may still be a bit skeptical…and as i’ve spoken to friends and clients…more and more wanted to hear how to do it…

so…i decided…why not show examples through my own wardrobe…so every once in a while…i will be showing how i have taken one item and worn it three different ways…

introducing my red, white & blue jacket…there is a bit of a back story to this…i wrote a blog post about it titled “the jacket that was meant to be”…so be sure to read how i found this piece…in new york of all places…

based on that blog post…it was clear that one pic on pinterest had me focused on finding something similar…and it took a while for me to even find a blouse that i was happy with…but here is my version of that fabulous pinterest inspirational pic…

now for many (going by what you all tell me in emails & comments)…this is a lot of mixing of patterns…and while some won’t even attempt it…i truly enjoy mixing patterns…and honestly…the more the better!

side note: i would most likely not have worn those black shoes (just personal preference…) but at the time i wore this…i had two fractured toes…and these were the only shoes that fit me…talk about wardrobe pressure!

so outfit #2 – here i wore a subdued mixing of patterns…truth be told…i could have not added the scarf…and the outfit would have been fine…but i always try and add a little element of surprise…which in this case was the long scarf…

one of the easiest ways to create outfits is by adding a fun printed jacket…and then just pull colors from it when adding accessories…whether you decide to mix patterns or not…

i chose to wear my dark wash flared jeans…

and red shoes…just because…

outfit #3 – spring was here…and the weather was getting warmer…so i opted for my white jeans & white tank…and my blue patent leather sandals…

and for fun…added in my red/gold vintage necklace…

so what item do you have in your closet that you can wear a new way? do try it…and do share it with us in the comments below…i would love to hear what you chose!

thanks for reading…

till next time…stay stylish!
